How Much Caffeine Can I Drink When Pregnant?

Most health experts, including the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) and the World Health Organization (WHO), recommend that pregnant women limit their caffeine intake to 200 milligrams (mg) per day. Can You Drink Too Much Decaf Coffee While Pregnant?

Because decaf coffee contains only trace amounts of caffeine, most experts agree that the caffeine itself isn’t usually a concern when consumed in moderate amounts. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) suggests that up to 200 milligrams of caffeine per day is generally safe during pregnancy. A cup of decaf coffee contributes only a small fraction of that total, which means it’s unlikely that you’d exceed safe caffeine levels even if you drink several cups.
